I'm 72 years old, and during the past 35 years I have assembled and given away two Christian libraries with hundreds of books in each. I am currently assembling my third Christian library. And because of the numerous five star ratings, I thought Lancaster's book “Powerful Prayers in the War Room” would make a great addition. No so. It is (unfortunately) a rehash of other books about the Lord's Prayer, and it needs editing.I'm not questioning Mr. Lancaster's sincerity or passion for prayer, but the book is tiresome to read because he repeats themes throughout the book to the point of being annoying. (Let me be clear: God's Word is not annoying, but reading the same instructions and ideas repeatedly is.) Lancaster's two other books (Simple Worship in the War Room and With Jesus in the War Room) are not any better.If you want to learn how to pray, I recommend “Prayer, Praise & Promises: A Daily Walk Through the Psalms” by Warren W. Wiersbe, “Praying God's Word: Breaking Free from Spiritual Strongholds” by Beth Moore, and “Prayer: The Great Adventure” by David Jeremiah. These books are well organized, and they are refreshingly engaging. They will strengthen your prayer life immediately and continuously. But if you don't want to buy these books, just open your Bible to Psalms, Proverbs, and Ephesians. THIS is the real school of prayer, because you will quickly learn how to use God's Word to praise and worship Him, how to pray for yourself, and how to intercede for others.

Thunboe's debut novel is a solid entry. It will be especially interesting to Chicago-area readers who will enjoy decoding so many of the real-world events and places hidden behind the fictional Paget County. The story is well laid out, and the twists believable. A good debut novel. Can't wait to read the other installments of the Jake Houser stories.

I loved reading this story! I'm a sucker for mystery novels, so when I heard about this book I had to give it a go. As the story progresses and the plot thickens, you're more and more invested in what will happen next - it's almost like you're there with Jake. So many twists and turns to keep your mind running wild - this was a great read that had my full attention.

Great book! Keeps you guessing until the end. Highly recommend reading this book. Looking forward to future books.

Great who dun it that moved fast.

This story follows Detective Jake Houser as he investigates the murder of three people pulled from Radar Grove Lagoon. As he progresses, several people try to stop him - including his own cousin, who happens to be the Sheriff , and who is taking direction from her father. Bull Warren, Jake's uncle, made a lot of things happen for the town, but will stop at nothing to get Jake off this case. The situation becomes increasingly dangerous for Jake as he gets closer to the truth. And along the way, Bev uncovers several secrets of her father's that make her call into question her entire view of the man.I thought this was a great debut novel. It had a lot of twists and turns, but the plot was well-developed and the characters realistic. Sometimes it got a little wordy and the temperature/current weather situation was always described, but it was still a captivating story and it kept me guessing until the end.I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this review.

What Can't Be True - A really good story but it needs a tightening edit. It's too wordy and a "Reader's Digest Condensed" style edit would keep the first few chapters from slowing the reading down and improve the rest of the story. It does take a few chapters before the story starts running like gangbusters. The storylines are well thought out, the characters develop as the story required their growth, and the intrigue and suspense are very good. The Detective is no dummy and has to battle on several fronts to solve the murders and the mystery behind the murders.The twists keep the reader immersed in the story. The reader can't help but root for the Detective as he overcomes one hurdle after another. The descriptions are so precise (some details are the reason for the bulk) that the reader is there on site with the characters. The wordiness is the only thing I have to complain about since this book is in my preferred genre. I look forward to reading more by this author, after he does the condensing bit on his next book. I love our Knock Knock pads! This is the third What to Eat pad we've bought (I'm actually using it right this moment to plan out our menu for the next 2 weeks). Very strong magnet on the back to they stick to the fridge with no problems. The paper is good quality and thick. I also enjoy buying this and the All Out Of pad as housewarming gifts for people. This pad is especially useful because currently my sister in law is living with us and she gets very ornery if she doesn't know "the plan". So if you have people in your house who need routine or kids who are always asking what's for dinner, this is for you. I find we rarely use the Not Dinner side because we don't have children and work outside of the house so everyone does their own thing for breakfast and lunch but I imagine if you have kids in the house or you all sit down for breakfast together those sections would be helpful. I can see how this is also helpful if you have a nanny or regular after-school help so you can indicate what supplies you have in the house for various meals like lunch and snacks. All in all very useful!

This is a great idea for a person/couple/family that always asks "What's for dinner?". No, you don't need a fancy pad to make a menu for the week, but isn't it more fun when you do? I enjoy filling out the menu, so it makes it less of a chore. And if you're a busy person, making out the menu at the beginning of the week takes the stress out of meal planning. It also makes it easier to plan your grocery list so you're not running to the store multiple times a week for ingredients.

Great planning tool for the family! At the end of the week use the blank back of it as your grocery list!

I absolutely LOVE this pad!! Every Sunday morning I plan my meals for the week and it helps keep me on track. I know exactly what I need from the grocery store and what recipes to keep out. This is actually the 2nd one I've bought. I used all the pages in my first one! I will keep buying these as long as they make them!

Fabulous but instead of the right side of the paper I would add grocery list or blank for daily family notes.

This has made my life easier. I am able to write out what we will have for the week, create my shopping list and remind myself what we will be having each day. No more stress, just 30min of planning and the rest of the week follows.

Pulled these out and put them in my planner. They ar great. Wish it had six holes punched so it could be used in several different type planners

I love this. It helps me plan the week and also keeps everyone from asking all day what we are having for dinner.

I was really excited to read this one to my two little girls due to much we have enjoyed many of the others in this series but no one enjoyed this one. It just was not written with kids in mind like the others were. It was very dry and used a lot of very abstract and obtuse quotes at the beginning of every chapter that really screamed the author did not know how to write for kids. The way sentences were written, the flow of the book, and the content was not done well to captivate the minds of young readers...or even myself for that matter and I love reading this kind of stuff.

My 1st grader needed an Einstein biography for his wax museum project and this said it was for little kids—it’s a long chapter book that was more for 4th graders. I had to read it and take notes for him. The reading wasn’t so much too hard for him, so much as the length of the book.

Ok, I'm going to start off by saying that my son absolutely HATES to read. He's always struggled with reading. This is the first book he read on his own without me pushing him to read. He's in middle school so this is a little under his grade level, but it was perfect for him. He had to read a biography for school, so I got him "Who was Frank Lloyd Wright?" ( my son loves building, and thought he might find it a little interesting) Surprisingly, he enjoyed it, and completed his book report before the deadline. So I bought him this book to read for fun because he also loves science. He had it finished in under 2 weeks! So I will definitely be buying more books (or checking them out from the library) in the near future. FINALLY! A book series my son WANTS to read!!! And they're educational too!

This is an EXCELLENT book. I shall personally try to live by my subject headline of A = X+Y+Zwhere if A = success ; X = Work, Y = Play, and Z = Keep your mouth shut !!! Only Einstein could have put this wisdom in the form of an equation.Of course, I think the book is well written and shows the reader that Einstein's life was sometimes scary for him, joyous and very often incredibly sad.Overall I enjoyed it very much as it gave me an insight into a very great man in a concise manner.Thank you Jess Brallier.

We love the “Who Was” series. They are fabulous at making non-fiction, biographical text accessible to younger readers. They make reading about the life of a real person interesting and informative. There are great pages infused throughout the books giving you insight into tangential topics that support the reader’s understanding of the text as a whole.Albert Einstein was another in a long line of enjoyable biographical texts!

These are the best nonfiction books for 3rd through 6th graders for AR. As a teacher and a parent, these are always my first recommendation to meet their AR goal. We require 3 nonfiction books per 9 weeks and these can be read in just a few days. They are informative and the kids overwhelmingly enjoy them.

I got this for my sis year old. I think the language is challenging enough without it being too above level. It definitely inspires questions and look ups. My son's only complaint is the illustrations. He finds the cover creepy and the inside look careless. I think photos or more thought out illustrations could have made this good book even better.

I'm itching to build a cabin in a quiet corner of Texas. Not on a mountain but with the same modern beautiful lines featured in this book. Great photographs and detail as well as inspiration.

Great book. A must-have for anyone with an interest in building a contemporary cabin/mountain home. Not for those interested in a traditional Rocky Mountain over-sized too expensive mountain home.

Gave this as a gift. It was nice. Especially for those lumbersexual types.

Very cool cabins and a variety of styles. a great book to have.

If you're into house books, you'll be familiar with this type of book: it showcases a wide number of mountain/outdoorsy homes, featuring each in a few pages with photos and text. If you're like me and adore such books, you'll find yourself dreamily paging through the pages, gleaning various ideas about interior design and even house building. The houses are all modern, yes, but many play with organic "mountain" shapes and textures and forms.So why four stars instead of five? It could be because of the format or it could be because of the quality of the photos, but I'm convinced that I've seen much prettier coffee table books about houses. The images are nice and the subject matter is photogenic, but the book simply doesn't mesmerize me with its beauty. I'm not condemning this book, just saying I'm unwilling to go to 5 stars for a book that isn't 100% dazzling.

Purchased the book for my daughter (and myself as I lack understanding in the sport of field hockey). The book is well written and provides a clear explanation of the sport. I have found it to be very helpful to advance my knowledge. My daughter has enjoyed the book as it outlines various drills to improve her skill set. The drills are clearly outlined and very detailed with great visuals. She has been playing for 5+ years (club and local teams) and she indicated that this book has helped her. She also noted that this book will continue to be beneficial in the future as it is very comprehensive. Definitely would recommend.

A thorough guide starting from the beginning to cover sound basic skills through to some advanced play. It’s a good reference for applied technique for to assist coaches. A few more diagrams would have made it easier rather than reading an instruction a number of times. ( for those who are time poor)

Don't know anything about field hockey, this looks like an excellent book. Bought it for my daughter who would like to get into the sport as she gets into high school.

I purchased this book for my Granddaughter (Age16) who is exceptionally good at the sport. While still in the 10th grade, she was elevated directly to her High School's Varsity. When she entered the 11th grade, she became Co-Captain, although not a Senior. She has told me that the book was a great help, and that even with her current knowledge, she has picked up pointers that have helped her improve her game.

I played field hockey about 9 years ago and recently my arm has been slightly twisted to coach middle school hockey. I had forgotten all the basics of the game and this book is a quick to the point guide. I like the pictures it provides and the drills. My goalie coach who had never even seen a game before has been able to use the book and apply it to coaching my goalies. I definitly recommend this book whether you are a coach who is looking for a break down of skills or a player looking to improve your game.

I’ve threaded my way through a lot of organizations and managers since then, but as I read this new, updated version I found the same foundational principles enhanced to be applicable to business cultures today with different structures, flexible work arrangements, and technology that didn’t exist 30 years ago. What is most impressive about this little book is that the title implies manager, but every person can practice the principles. It is the employee review done more frequently. Instead, find employees doing things right. Offering to show them a simpler or faster way of doing things is positive teaching. Who wants to be criticized?To me, it seems as if the New One Minute Manager is in danger of not knowing what is really happening in his organization. It is better to manage by wandering around (MBWA). Ask your people how you can make their job easier. Find out what the issues are (not to solve them) so you can better understand what they are facing.Maybe, since I'm now retired (CFO, COO, Army officer), the simplistic views of success are not as appealing as they once were.

I read the original One Minute Manager that focused on mentoring the staff (give feedback often, keep it short and to the point, be specific, public praise, private conversation when addressing negative issues). Simple, but something a lot of managers do not do. This one is marketed to adapt to the millennials, the conversations did get a bit tedious but overall a good message.
