This is a good read. It tells details of relationships, background information without being crass and explains the authors belief as to why she was so popular.The only negative for me was the incorrect spelling or use of a word. For some reason it tends to be mostly words that start with F. It interrupts the flow of reading as you stop and figure out what word would be in context.I would absolutely recommend this book to enjoy.
Having come from what appeared as a normal childhood, it shows her departure from childhood to motherhood at the age of six so she could and chose to mother her 3 year old brother a truly real life fairy tale. Such a rude awakening to the realities of life. Despite through all of her abuse at so-called royal hands and lips she gave the world its greatest gifts in the personages of the Princes William and Harry. Her dedication to both of her boys as well as her equal treatment of the rest of the world is the greatest legacy bequeathed to us all. May you finally rest in peace our People's Princess! You've more than earned it. May your children and the generations that follow be blessed and know of your love from heaven. In Jesus name I ask blessings on them all
I chose this rating because this was a hard book to put down. I learned things that I didn't know before.
While the book is intriguing the vast number of misspelled words or improper use of words (example- seams instead of seems) is distracting. It makes the book clumsy and makes the author seem uneducated. Given the choice I would probably not purchase again.
This is a brilliant, intimate, entirely engaging, love-filled "word portrait " of Princess Diana. So impressive is her genuineness to charity, to people in need, that the reader is right beside this wonderful, yet ill-treated woman by the Royal Family, and yet adored by every Brit and beyond the UK world. This will take a crashing emotional toll on the reader, yet the reader will grab the book at every opportunity to learn more of her story. Though knowing of the tragic ending, the reader still hopes for, yearns for a different denouement to this lovely lady's too brief life on this earth. I wept. But the love she had for her Royal Sons throughout the book ultimately uplifted me
This was an exhaustively researched and even-handedly written book. It played no favorites and showed the players in this senseless drama as they were. This was, in itself, a bit of a shock as it pulled aside curtains that showed some were not all they seemed and some were total cretins in their insulated, selfish worlds. What puzzled me most were the many fatal errors totally overlooked or ignored by all, any one or two of which if acted upon when seen, would have completely avoided the whole catastrophe. Well written book. I feel it buries the conspiracy theories under a mountain of evidence that cannot be ignored.
I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did; the author manages to put a human face on distant royalty, much as Diana did during her brief life. I was most impressed with her sons. Even though they were still young when she died, there were already glimpses of the strong, personable men they would become. Diana would be beyond proud, now 20 years later. The book is well-researched and balanced. Several formatting issues and typos did distract some from the riveting account.
I have always been fascinated by and loved Princess Diana. I believe her death was untimely, tragic and senseless. I remain unconvinced her death was merely a car accident in a tunnel, but believe there were too many fishy things about this event to believe that is what really happened. I also think the Queen and Charles and Royal family treated her so coldly. Nevertheless, I couldn't stop reading this book. I believe it showed Diana as a woman of contradictions--and with a great need to simply be accepted and especially to simply be loved. While I don't accept all written in this book as fact, I did find it quite interesting and recommend it.
